Airokhsh Faiz Qaisary| Research Assistant, Peace Action
Airokhsh Faiz Qaisary holds a bachelor’s degree in International Politics and Peace and Conflict Studies from Juniata College and master’s degree in Gender Analysis in International Studies and Conflict Resolution from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Prior to joining Conflict Dynamics, Airokhsh worked for Sahar, a non-profit working to improve girls’ education in Afghanistan. Airokhsh served as both an intern and fellow with Sahar, where she designed their program to prevent early marriage among school girls in Afghanistan. She understands personally the difficulties inherent in peacebuilding and gender equality, because not long ago, she was a girl fighting for her own right to be educated in Afghanistan. Since girls were not allowed to be educated under the Taliban regime, Airokhsh’s mother ran a secret school for children in the community. She was lucky to have parents who encouraged all of their children—their son and their daughters to reach for their dreams and never stop learning, regardless of their gender. Airokhsh is a passionate speaker and advocate for women’s rights and women’s education, not just in Afghanistan but around the world, and she brings the texture of her own personal experiences to her work.
