Anis George Haggar

Board Member

Anis Haggar joined the Board of Directors in 2020 and brings with him a long history of experience in the field of peacebuilding and a passion for a peaceful and prosperous Sudan. Until recently, Anis led the Haggar Group, established in South Sudan in 1904, in building long-term positions in agriculture, energy, and ICT, creating value throughout Sudan and South Sudan and across the African continent. Anis serves as a chairman of the Haggar Foundation, active in local communities in the fields of education, literacy, capacity building, healthcare and clean water, the environment, research, arts, culture, and sports.

 

Anis first encountered Conflict Dynamics’ work during the dialogues in Sudan in the run up to the referendum on separation of Southern Sudan (2011).

Anis has dedicated much of his life to ensuring peace and economic prosperity in the Sudan. He has served as Honorary Consul of Spain and Honorary Consul General of Liberia, and as a member of the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and The Constitution Committee. He was involved in the Sudan peace talks in Naivasha as a member of the Investment Committee of the Sudanese Chamber of Commerce Resource Group and was a member of the Sudanese Delegation negotiating accession to the WTO. Anis was a member of the Sudan – South Sudan Dialogue Group; a sponsor for the Ebony Center for Strategic Studies in South Sudan; and has been a strong voice in the fields of peace and conflict resolution, international relations, trade and economics, humanitarian relief, and corporate social responsibility, among others.

Recognized for his work, he was awarded the Order of the Loyal Son of Sudan and Commander of the Order of Civil Merit by King Juan Carlos of Spain and has honorary doctorates from Juba University, Ahfad University for Women, Sudan University and Al Zaeem Al Azhari.

 

In addition to Conflict Dynamics, he is a member of the Boards of Ivory Bank Juba Insurance, Central Bank of Sudan, and Holland Park Wine Company, as well as a member of the Governing Boards of various universities and a member of a number of national committees, charity organizations, hospitals and councils in the Sudan.
